About Us

We met on Match.com 6 years ago.  Patty was working in fashion (all women) and Mike was working in construction (all men) so we were lucky to find each other at all.  From the beginning, we felt an instant connection.  Patty was happy to find a guy who talked as much as she did.  We both wanted to be married.  Mike was impressed that Patty had a hitch on her truck.  (Hey lets face it, sometimes its the little things!)

We had a funny start to the relationship.  Mike dislocated his shoulder 3 weeks into dating Patty.  He was in a sling and needed help.  Patty had to help with the laundry and so much more.  There was surgery and 6 months of therapy - what a courtship!  Talk about love and commitment from the very start.  From the beginning, we have known that life is not easy and that we were in it together.

We got married on a beautiful Summer day in 2005.  The obligatory wedding shot :-)You should have seen our first dance.  Mike isn't much of a dancer and we did 6 months of dance lessons - we really wow'd the crowd.  We had practiced for months and we knew the words by heart, so we sang to each other as we danced.  Truly magical.

We've always known we wanted children, we just didn't know how they would come to us.  We tried real hard for over 2 years to conceive.  God obviously has a different plan for us.

All about Patty....
(by Mike)

Patty is a truly special woman!  She brings out the best in everyone and opens her heart to all.  She always brings a smile to everyone's face during good times and bad.  She is the most caring person anyone could ever know.

Patty loves the beach.  She loves sand between her toes, the warmth of the beating sun on her skin and the endless lapping of the waves on the seashore.  She can sit there for hours enjoying a great novel or just staring at the waves crashing on the shore.

Patty never sits still.  She is always on the move and a little impatient at times.  Whether it is cleaning the house or painting the bathroom, she is always into something.

Patty loves the snow.  She loves the cold biting at her face, a fresh laid track in the snow and coming in after playing to snuggle up to a roaring fire.  Winter is a special time of year for her.  (Who else would plan a snowflake wedding in July?)  She is an avid Christmas decorator who revels in the holiday traditions.  She has even gotten me to participate and I now yearly decorate the house with as many lights as we have outlets for!

Patty is determined.  I have never seen her back down from anything.  She has tried to airchair,(when most people won't) she has tried snowmobiling and come to enjoy it, and when we were dating she took on the challenge of renovating her bathroom single handedly.  Never has there been something that she won't try and that includes vegetables!

Patty loves children.  We moved into our house a couple years ago and somehow she was instant friends with every child on the street.  It is not uncommon when she comes home to be beckoned by the children across the street to come play.  She can be childlike and playful, just like the little child she once was.

Patty will be the most loving mother a child could hope for.  She has an innate motherly nature.  Be it being silly and carefree, motherly and doting, or parental and disciplinary.  She can and will do it all.
All about Mike...
(by Patty)

As Mike's sister has described him, he was born with gasoline in his veins.  The man loves anything with a motor - cars, boats, motorcycles, ATV's, heck even lawnmowers but his big passion is snowmobiles.

For Mike there are truly only 2 seasons - Snowmobile Season and Airchairing Season.

Snowmobile Season begins in the fall when he starts talking about the colder weather and wants to know if there is ice on the lake yet.  He's got a standing vacation week each year with his best friend and all they do is snowmobile.

When the ice finally melts on the lake, the discussion turns to the boat and Mike's favorite Summertime activity, Airchairing.  You've probably never heard of it but just go to youtube if you'd like to see it.  As always, Mike makes it look easy with his jumps to impress but I've tried it and it is hard.

Mike is lucky enough to only work 5 minutes from home.  He is a successful architect specializing in high end residential homes working with a partner.  He's passionate about his work and I am always amazed at what he does.  His job offers the flexibility of working from home and will be an asset when childcare emergencies arise.  Growing up, Mike's Dad traveled extensively and was away for weeks at a time.  Mike looks forward to being a very involved Father.  When I see him playing around with the neighborhood kids, I know what a great Dad he will be.

Mike has a childlike exuberance, a real joy for life.  He has been my rock through our infertility journey and he stays positive and helps me believe it will all turn out okay.  Coming home to him is the best part of my day.  God, I love that
man!
